We foster dialogue and international partnerships to enable policy-makers to explore strategic priorities for education and shape future reforms.

In Mauritius, our policy work currently focuses on 2 key areas:

  • quality assurance at secondary level
  • assessment at pre-primary level.

In partnership with Ofsted in the UK (the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills), we are working with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources on the development of a Quality Assurance Framework for schools and the training of Quality Assurance Officers.

At pre-primary level, we have supported a partnership between the University of Northampton and the Early Childhood Care and Education Authority (ECCEA) to develop an assessment tool that captures and records progress made by children in pre-primary schools.

It is anticipated that this will smooth the transition from pre-primary to primary.
